The Nassau County SPCA greatly needs your help. Every day our small group of devoted volunteers are out in our community educating, investigating, and protecting our most vulnerable from harm.
We work alongside numerous government agencies, however, we are not fortunate enough to have the resources or manpower they do. Nassau County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, yet we survive on severely limited funding, and must rely upon the kindness and generosity of the public to remain afloat. We have no sponsorship, and nearly half of our costs and expenditures are currently being supplied and paid for by our own volunteers, many of whom are students, retirees, or unemployed.
Contrary to popular misconception, neither we, nor any Society is affiliated with the ASPCA which only serves the five boroughs of New York City. Due to this fact, the ASPCA receives many donations from kind-hearted Nassau County residents incorrectly believing they are donating to us -- their own local and independent SPCA -- and the only official animal protection organization working in their behalf.
We cannot continue the fight against animal cruelty without your help and support. Please see in your heart to donate today. You can make a difference.
